It's amazing the things that you remember as a kid. It isn't the moments that we as parents try to arrange, Pinterest perfect, for our children. It's the moments when things went wrong, fell sideways, and etched themselves into our kid memory because of it.
The year my Dad made canned turkey for Thanksgiving. The year I forgot to put sugar in the pumpkin pie. It's always the moments when you think to yourself, "I'm going to laugh about this one day, but not now." Those are the ones that kids remember. We spend so much time trying to make every moment perfect for our kids, but it's what we do with the flops, the messes, and the screw ups that truly enter into our children's minds as memories of beauty.
All it takes to make something sacred is intent.
